Carson: Another [imagery layer] that we use is planimetrics, so were pulling a lot of data together – you can pull contour data out of that elevation model, things like that, and generate a lot of interesting, and unique, and really strategic data here. That can all be put together in stereo to create some really important maps…we’re taking the imagery, where we’re overlaying the contours, and then a lot of other base utility features, as well as the parcel layers so we’re getting a lot of key information. So, that’s a really great final kind of use case and product you can really leverage.
Chris: When we’re talking about urban forestry models and things like that, these are models that are very, very useful to bring about this [elevation] information and create these other additional products, where we’re taking the DSM (Digital Surface Model) and DTM (Digital Terrain Model and we’re creating just the height of vegetation (CHM – Canopy Height Model), so in the nDSM model that’s everything including manmade. Canopy Height [modeling] is only for the vegetation height.
Chris: The lidar, bringing it into that high density data set, with the elevation values and some of the additional information returns and the strength of return, can help and compliment the data that was created via the imagery, so we can could start getting into a higher fidelity type classification and get cleaner lines on the buildings and detail out a lot better on the vegetation — and parse out a little bit of that information.
