    Sanborn CEO John Copple Joins MAPPS Board

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 3, 2017 — The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn) announces the appointment of CEO John Copple as Director to the MAPPS board.

    MAPPS, the national association of private sector geospatial firms, announced today the slate of new officers and directors elected for  2017-2018. The vote of new Directors by the MAPPS membership was held during the association’s annual business meeting on July 25, at the MAPPS Summer Conference at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

    “I’m pleased to be elected as an Board member of this association,” says Copple. “The mapping industry is currently going through a metamorphosis with drones and driverless cars increasing the demand for accurate HD Maps. It is important that the geospatial firms work together to draft specifications for the next generation of maps and lobby the government for proper regulations.” Copple adds that it is an exciting time to be in the geospatial technology business.

    MAPPS is the only national association of firms in the surveying, spatial data and geographic information systems field in the United States. MAPPS member firms are engaged in surveying, photogrammetry, satellite and airborne remote sensing, aerial photography, hydrography, aerial and satellite image processing, GPS and GIS data collection and conversion services. MAPPS’ associate members include firms that provide products and services to our member firms, as well as other firms world-wide.
